Murphy wouldn't hear of it

By Wednesday afternoon Chalyse and Ellora's colds were wrapping up and they were finally starting to feel better but of course that would not do. Around 9:30pm Chalyse began screaming and we came running into her room just in time to see her vomit all over the bed. Within about an hour she had thrown up 3 or 4 times and was exactly the color of ash. When Tom stood her on her feet to clean her up her legs gave out and she collapsed to the floor. By 2 am she had thrown up on about every clean thing in the room. Luckily she began to improve at that point and we were all finally able to get some sleep. She is pretty much back to normal today and they both only have a little cough now. *knock on wood*

Wolverine Tracks?

So, we have had really sick girls the last few days. They have had really bad coughs and running low to moderate fevers. I am really worried about RSV or pneumonia. Although, so far they haven't had too much trouble breathing, thank goodness. Chalyse seems to be getting better but when she had pneumonia in the summer she had just had a little cold with a small cough and seemed to be over it when it all of the sudden hit her really hard. I was going to take them both to the clinic today, but it didn't work out for a few reasons. A neighbor said he could take us there during his lunch in the company truck if we wanted him to. I told him we would see how they were doing then, but that it might be a good idea. Tom suggested if it wasn't too cold to walk them over in the morning because there would be less of a wait and fewer people there to give the girls some other sickness. Well, the girls slept in (which was good because they were up a lot during the night) and it took me a while to get everything done that I needed to, like baths and breakfast. Also, it was only about 0 degrees. Not terribly cold but still cold. Our neighbor didn't even go to work until after lunch but by the time we were ready to go Chalyse was ready for a nap anyway so it was probably best we didn't try to go. They are both sleeping now so I will just watch them closely and hopefully we are past the worst.

In other news:
Ellora is mobile! She is rolling and scooting and can get around pretty well.

Mandy cut my hair. She just trimmed and thinned it in the back a little and gave me bangs. I really like it.

I gave Ellora a little trim last week because it was looking pretty straggly and looked funny coming out the back of her helmet.

We found some tracks just outside our window that look like arctic fox or wolverine. We see a lot of tracks around our apartment including rabbit, raven and some that looked like caribou. No bears yet, though.

I have decided to buy a native made parky. (Here in Point Hope they call them Parky's instead of Parka's. Not sure why.) The natives parky's have extra room in the back for their baby's. I have been carrying Ellora in my coat (in the front because I worry about her falling out or smothering) but I think we are going to outgrow it soon and I think she is big enough now to carry her on my back. They lady we asked about it said it could be ready in about a week. I will post pictures when I get it.

Super Chalyse

Christmas bonus...an extra week.

We haven't posted anything in a while. I guess we are just getting back into the swing of things since our trip home to Utah.

We had a really good Christmas break. We had a lot of fun spending time with family and friends. Chalyse and Ellora really enjoyed playing with their aunts, uncles and cousins. We were glad to stay with Daurie and Brigham. Thanks so much guys! Santa brought a play gym for Ellora and for Chalyse he brought a bed, bouncer, stroller and play gym for her doll..

While we were in Utah we took the girls to their pediatrician. He looked at Ellora and quickly decided that she would need a helmet to help her head develope and form properly. We looked into it and at first it seemed that it would take a month or more to get the helmet authorized by by the insurance, made, fitted and checked up on before we could go home. Luckily everyone was very helpful and did all that they could to get it done quickly. In the end we only needed to stay an extra week. All seems to be going well with it and it doesn't even seem to bother her too much. It does still need to be checked and adjusted every so often and of course there is no one who can do that here in Point Hope so Camille will be taking Ellora to anchorage about every 3 weeks. Their first trip will be the beginning of next month. Do to flight schedules she they will have to stay the night before the appointment in Anchorage and the next night in Kotzebue while they wait for the flight home. Fortunately while we were flying home to Utah we met the branch president from Kotzebue. He said said to give him a call if we are ever in Kotzebu or if we ever need anything. We called him up and he is going to take care of them and see if there is anyone in Anchorage who will do the same. We feel very blessed to be a part of a world wide church.
