Hey everyone. I just got a job offer and I accepted!!! We're going to Point Hope, Alaska. For those of you who don't know, that's about as far away as we could get without leaving the United States. I'm going to teach middle school language arts and social studies. I still have to pass the Praxis exam for Language Arts, but besides that, it's a done deal. Thank you all who have prayed for us. The Lord has blessed us and answered our own prayers.
WHAT?!?!?! I'm so excited for you guys but I am going to miss the crap out of you!! That is way exciting..when would you guys move out there?
ReplyDeleteSo excited you got a job...a little worried about how isolated it is but you have each other and the Lord!!! Hurray for the Internet!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is from Mom...just realized that Cathy was signed in and I was writing on using her ID.
Wow, I am excited for you to have a job. But I also hope you're going into it with your eyes open. I did some researching and found out just how remote it is (You have to fly in? The nearest doctor is 180 miles away? Vehicles include pick-ups and snowmobiles? Hope the grocery store is well stocked!) Also, I hope Camille does well with post-partum. When we were in Alaska in July it got dark around 1:00 a.m. and then got light again at 4:00 a.m. In the winter, when that is reversed, I hope she can cope well with the dark. Chalyse too - I saw that the summer highs are about 50 degrees, and winters range from -30 to -50. Not much for outdoor play. That being said though, what an adventure!! That will sure be an experience of a lifetime. If you're still there next July when we go back, we'll want to visit for sure.
ReplyDeleteWe know, we have done tons of research ourselves. We are excited for the adventure. It will definitely be different from what we're used to. We won't be going outside much but we will be right next to the school so we can go play there and they have a pool. We plan to make sure our apartment is well lit and maybe even get full spectrum lights. We also plan to come home for the summers. We probably wont be settling down in Alaska. We plan to do it for only 2 or 3 years.
ReplyDeleteAlso, in response to Jame and Ashley, we would be moving out on the 31 of this month. We have exactly one month to get everything done. Aaaaaaaah!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! That sounds exciting and I hope you have fun. We'll have to time our visit back to Utah around the times you guys will be there for summer.
